Economy Forcing Illegal Immigrants To Leave

PHOENIX -- Illegal immigrants are leaving the state, but not for the reasons people might think.

A Valley research economist says it's not because of the tougher laws targeting illegal immigrants; it's because of a cooling economy.

"Jobs slowed down. Job growth slowed. And it's just natural. They come for jobs and when there are no jobs they leave," said Dawn McLaren with Arizona State University's WP Carey School of Business.

She said businesses are between a rock and a hard place with the tough new law on employers who hire illegal immigrants.

Some businesses may decide not to locate in Arizona, while some that are already here may choose to bail out because of the legal headaches.

"Once they consider the expense of that they may weigh the cost of leaving with the cost of that prospective litigation," said McLaren.

Arizona's employer sanctions law takes effect Jan. 1.

Amazing what happens when a state passes laws which punish those who hire Illegal Immigrants. Perhaps Colorado and other states need to do more. If there is nothing here to attract Illegals, they will leave and go home. No need to deport them if we take away the things they come for!

Laws I want to see in Colorado

1. Vehicle of Drivers without a license seized.
2. No bail for Illegal Immigrants
3. No public services for Illegal Immigrants
4. English made the official language
5. All Colorado Law Enforcement Agencies required to be 287G compliant
6. Mandatory jail/prison terms for Illegal Immigrants using fraudulent documents
7. No punitive/compensatory damage awards to Illegal Immigrants
8. Business license revoked to any employer using Illegal Immigrants

I think that would be a great start. If it was known to Illegal Immigrants that we as a state did not want them here, we would see the wages of those of us who live here rise. Not to mention the reduction in taxes we would see from removing the leaches from our system.

Senators Agree to Extra $3 Billion for Border Security

WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats and Republicans
agreed Thursday to devote an additional $3 billion to gaining control over the
U.S.-Mexico border.
The move puts Congress on a path to overriding President
Bush's promised veto of a $38 billion homeland security spending bill.
The
deal, approved by an 89-1 vote, resurrects a GOP plan to pass some of the most
popular parts of Bush's failed immigration bill. That includes money for
additional Border Patrol agents and fencing along the southern border.
Democrats liked the money. But they objected to Republican proposals such as
allowing law enforcement officers to question people about their immigration
status and cracking down on people who overstay their visas.
Efforts broke
down Wednesday to make progress on a compromise containing only the border
security money.
But Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Sen. John
Cornyn, R-Texas, resolved their differences overnight and announced agreement
Thursday morning. Cornyn won a promise to use some money to pursue immigrants
who had entered the United States legally but had overstayed their visas.
Reid had apparently thought that Cornyn wanted harsher language.
"I was
wrong and Senator Cornyn was right," Reid acknowledged.
The measure
initially was opposed by the White House, top Republicans said, and it clearly
puts the president in a box. Bush had promised a veto of the overall homeland
security bill for spending $2.3 billion more than he requested.
But the
White House signaled it would at least accept the added money for the border.
"To the extent Congress supports additional emergency funding, we want to
work with them to make sure it is spent on the highest border security
priorities," White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said.
Now, Bush's stalwarts
in Congress, including Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., are poised to override the
president's veto on the entire bill.
Cornyn predicted the bill would "pass
by a veto-proof margin" and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told reporters the bill
might get 90 votes in the 100-member Senate.
The measure probably will be
the first spending bill for the budget year beginning Oct. 1 that will arrive on
Bush's desk. The president, however, demanded on Thursday that the
Democratic-controlled Congress focus on delivering the Pentagon's budget to him
before lawmakers take their August vacation.
The money approved Thursday
would go toward seizing "operational control" over the U.S.-Mexico border by
using additional Border Patrol agents, vehicle barriers, border fencing and
observation towers. In addition, there is Cornyn's effort against people who
overstay their visas.
Graham said the $3 billion would pay for "more boots
on the ground, more people patrolling our border making it harder for somebody
to come across illegally. We should have done this a long time ago."
Bush
and Republicans such as Graham and Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona had argued during
last month's immigration debate that a comprehensive approach to overhauling
immigration policy was the only way to attract bipartisan support.
The bill
was condemned by conservative talk radio and congressional foes as offering
"amnesty." After it failed to pass, Graham and others changed their minds and
offered the border security plan.
Graham and Kyl said the public will not
accept the more contentious parts, especially the plan to give millions of
illegal immigrants a way to earn U.S. citizenship, until the border with Mexico
is made more secure.
"Border security is the gate that you must pass through
to get to overall comprehensive reform," said Graham. The senator is up for
re-election next year and faces political heat at home for backing Bush's
unpopular immigration plan.
Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said he is
circulating a plan that would grant some legal status to illegal immigrants but
would stop short of giving them citizenship.
That approach "would take the
teeth out of the amnesty argument," Specter said. "I think we can act this year.
I think this bill is very close to doable."

I think after hearing the uproar of the American Citizens across the United States, our Congress must have figured out that what we want is Border Security, not Amnesty for criminal immigrants.

I truly hope that this passes. After that I hope it is actually spent where it is needed, not used to build pools for people supposed to be building fences and walls.

Now they need to get something other than get out of jail free cards put in place to deal with criminal immigration. Do I support mass deporting of all illegals? No, but I do believe that we need to go after the truly Criminal first. After that, if we have a way that the others if they can pass background checks (meaning No Criminal History, not this idea of 8 arrests is OK because they have not been arrested 10 times currently) and that they are actually part of our society. However, if they have used fake Social Security Cards, Green Cards, or other Identity Theft, they should have to leave.

I see as I try to find exceptions to allow some illegals to stay and get a visa, I can only support those who have broken no laws, and in that is my problem because if they came in illegally, I cannot support any of them.

It is good that it sounds like the majority of Americans were listened to. Now all we can hope for is that this passes into law, and becomes enforced laws!

I think I just figured something out.

As I have been writing here, I have been asking myself why do so many illegal immigrants want to move to the United States and while discussing this with my wife, she said something in relation with the fall of Rome which really got me thinking.

It isn't about money is it? Everyone knows there is other ways to make a lot of money, especially made easier in our southern neighbors where the rule of law is weaker.

It is about the rights you have here. Even an illegal immigrant is protected and covered under our laws of freedom and liberty. The saddest part about that is that our legal system has become warped and twisted, far from what our founding fathers had intended.

Everyone wanted to be Roman citizens because Roman Citizens had rights. So, apply that to today, and why are so many people running to the Democratic countries of the world? For the protections and rights of our countries. What do they not have in the lands they left? The protections and rights we enjoy on a daily basis.

So, how do we solve the problem of mass immigration? Would the best answer be to assist these people in making their countries more like what ours used to be when originally founded? Perhaps.

What would happen if we were able to help people create a better form of government than ours based on ours and the other free countries of the world? Quite simply, they could remove the current powers that be, and replace them with true believers. Heck, our country is a perfect example of things not to do, or mistakes already made to avoid.

I do not begrudge people wanting a better life, or seeking the rights and protections we enjoy on a daily basis, sometimes even in ignorance. However I do believe the whole world would be better if they stayed home and fixed their problems at the source.

I will admit I have sympathy for those being oppressed. I am glad for those who find freedom, but breaking the laws of the country that protects you to get these freedoms is wrong. Americans earned their rights with blood and hard work. We didn't always get it right, but we learn. I suggest that illegal immigrants learn from our ways and bring them home and make all their people aware of how they too could help themselves.

Honestly, I ask these illegals to do this before they anger the American people to a level thats causes unrest which will lead to hate.

I read about an awesome website today. It is Deport Them Now!

I ask all of you to go and sign up and take action. If we do not make our government actually enforce the laws which they passed, then what good are they?

How is it we have these people how are supposed to SERVE the American public, and they pass laws to protect the American way, but then turn around and will not fund the departments which are made to carry out these laws?

Examples of STUPIDITY:

1. Laws are passed which are to restrict "Psychologically Disturbed" persons from being able to buy guns, but the federal government doesn't fund the department which is to enforce this, and states make laws or just do not submit this information so that it is on the NICS.
2. Laws are passed to deport illegal aliens which commit criminal acts, but cut the funding to the department which does the actual deportation.

So, here are only two examples of our own government basically giving the entire citizen population of the United States lip service, and then shafting us.

The only way we can get government to listen to us, We The People who elected them, is to write letters, fax them, email them, and to call them. Do not stop there. Call radio shows, write newspapers, and get your friends to do the same. Do it on a local level, do it on a state level, and do it on a national level.

Become active in all levels of politics. Ask your city to pass laws against Criminal Immigrants. Ask you county to pass laws against Criminal Immigrants. Ask you state to pass laws against Criminal Immigrants. Ask your Nation to ENFORCE the laws we already have, and to fund the people who carry out these laws.

I notice that we are ignored once they get into office, that is until you start contacting them on a regular basis. Make noise, a lot of noise! And if they continue to ignore you, vote them out of office.

We need to get our country back under the control of the people for the people.
